PRINTS
I have a Epson Stylus pro 9800 digital inkjet printer (Giclee Printer) which uses epson ultrachrome K3 ink .
The maximum width for a paper print through this printer is 44 inches (111cm) but using rolls of paper and
canvas I can in theory make a print 111cm by 12 metres (44 inches by 40 feet). If I am doing a canvas print
then the maximum width is 105cm (41 inches) this allows enough canvas to then be stretched around the
stretcher bars that I normally use. If you want a print on deep edge stretcher then you loose more width
probably down to a maximum width of 100cm (38 inches).The printer prints at 2800 d.p.i and the prints
should be lightfast for up to 100 years (If it is not in direct sunlight all the time).I only print on pre coated
materials designed for my printer.
Canvas prints are also coated 4 times with a varnish designed to give the prints extra U.V protection.
This varnish is non yellowing and dries to a flat matte finish . It also enhances the image by lifting
the colour .It really gives the image a rich colour feeling.
I use pine stretcher bars to stretch the canvas prints onto . These bars have dimensions of 45mm wide
by 20mm thick (the side that come out from the wall).I use these because they are good quality and
are simple to frame if people want to . They are also better if you want to wrap a photo around the edge
as you only loose about 4cm from around all sides of the photo . This is especially true if you only want
a small photo printed e.g 35cm by 46cm and smaller . I can use deep edge stretcher bars but you will
have to contact me for a quote as this will increase any costs quoted on this website . The stretcher
bars also come with wedges so I can tension the canvas print.
The Canvas I use is a specially coated bright white cotton canvas with a weight of 450gms.This canvas is
the best I have used to give a really crisp image with rich colours . I have tried cheaper canvas but the print
quality has been poor compared to what I use now.
